is vsto thread safe?

visual studio tools for office projects take a long time to open and load. is it safe to use threads in the project to speed things up?

Yes, it is. You can use threads however you must be carefull when passing Office objects between threads. I recommend you to re-initialize them in the worker thread. For example if you create Outlook add-on, you can pass the EntryID and StoreID of the object in the other thread and there you could retrieved for processing :)
