How do I create a fillable pdf form?

I have a document in Excel that I will make into a pdf when I am finished editing it.

I am using Acrobat 5.0 and I can’t for the life of me find a good answer on how to create a form where its integrity cannot be altered, but rather, has fields that users can enter information into.

So far I have used the Free Text tool and I don’t like what it’s been giving me. The fields aren’t highlighted and you can’t tab from field to field like I’ve seen in other forms online.

Help?

Thanks!

Make the form in Excel, and convert to pdf.

Open the pdf in Acrobat, and use the Form tool (second-to-last button) on the Editing toolbar to create the fill-in fields. You can choose to make the field “Visible” on the Appearance tab of the Field Properties menu that pops up when you draw the field with the Form tool. The default tab order is the order in which you draw the fields, but you can change the tab order by clicking on Tools | Forms | Fields | Set Tab Order.
