How do I get the clone stamp tool to work in photoshop? I cant get it to work?

Im trying to cover a black post with a white snowy background. It will not put the white over the black post no matter what I do. I am pressing alt + clicking in the white first, then clicking over the black to cover it, but it doesn’t work?

Check your tool options (or just right-click the tool and ‘Reset Tool’):
- Normal blending mode
- 100% opacity

Also make sure you’re in the correct layer. If you’re trying to clone from layer to layer, check the “Use all layers” option for the tool.

As you’re using the tool, a crosshair should appear showing you where exactly the tool is cloning from.
