Is wikipedia a “good” research tool?

No. It is a publicly edited information repository. That being said, I could go on to the wikipedia site and change the information for wikipedia to the line “I’m a stupid website that everyone thinks they can use as a research paper source”. It’s not a peer edited paper nor is posting information on it considered being “published”. Because anyone can write anything they want on it, valid and correct information is not guaranteed. However, if you’re not using it to write a paper, a fair amount of the information is true.
