tool songs and lyrics
Best/Wost/Most under-appreciated songs by Tool and why?

My choices are–

Best–Jambi, because of it’s excellent composition, lyrical content, and freakin’ fantastical guitar solo.

Worst–Sober. It’s just a radio song, and it sucks.

Most under-appreciated–Reflection. The song is so trance-like, and an inspiring show of Maynard’s vocal ability. Not to mention the song is the same played backwards as forwards, with a hidden message in the lyrics. What better way to play a song called “Reflection”.

best– third eye…a total acid trip in one song, great memories attached to that song, hell that cd in general but especially that song.

worst–i would not say worst because they dont make bad songs, but i would say my least fave is probably sober. i think its over played, and they should leave it off the set list when they play live, there are soooo many other songs that i want to hear live again, BRING BACK THE 1998 SETLISTS!!!!

most under appreciated– H. that song just makes my mind wander, me and my boyfriend had a looooooong conversation over that song and what it means, to us anyway.

good question………good to see a person with good taste in this category!!!

Tool – 10000 Days (Lyrics and Meaning)

Aenima

Aenima

$10.86

With its heavy-duty distortion, weighty rhythms, and cynical lyrics, Tool is a heavy metal band for the ’90s. Rather like Metallica circa …And Justice for All, the sound is focused heavily on texture, with vocals and guitars layered one atop the other, and heart-pounding drums underlying everything. There’s not a whole lot of variety on Tool’s second full-length album–most of the songs start of…

Lateralus

Lateralus

$12.47

Everything about Tool’s fourth album is an experience, starting with the packaging, which consists of liner credits printed on a translucent plastic sleeve over the CD and a booklet that layers anatomical representations atop one another–the first page pictures musculature and blood vessels; the next, bones; the third, internal organs; and so on. It’s worth describing the packaging of Lateralus b…

Undertow

Undertow

$10.44

Arguably their finest album, this follow-up to Opiate showcases Tool at their best, assisted by clean, crisp production, without the muddiness of Aenima. Edgy guitar riffs are complemented by spitting, heavy bass, especially on “Sober” and “Crawl Away”. Lyrically, Tool are at their vitriolic best, targeting religious hypocrisy (“Intolerance,” “Sober”; always a popular theme), the loss of innocence…
