Software Tools For Teachers

question for software and computer engineers plz help and lemme kno?
is turbo c still being used as basics of programming in the universities bcuz here our teacher says is important but i think direct approach on visual c is best and is good bcuz this is what we will use later not turbo c right and also turbo c is really old and i think is already thrown into the trash plz lemme kno do u think turbo c is necessary to learn the basics of programming is it good for beginners or did my teacher made a mistake and will i ever need this knowledge ( i mean turbo c) later in future as a tool plz answer thank u
Turbo C is the old development platform by Borland/Insight using the C programming language. I don’t think this software is around any more, I haven’t seen it used in over 12 years.
There is no Visual C, however there is Microsoft’s development platform Visual C++ which also supports C programming. This software is in wide use.
For a programming class, however, this difference does not matter ! Well written programs for Turbo C will work under Visual C++ and well written (C) programs for Visual C++ will work with Turbo C. The programming language itself is independent of the development platform/software used.
I think C is not a great language to learn- C++ is much better for solving problems, even though to the beginner both look similar. With that said, learning any language will make it easier to pick up new languages later on. So rather than complaining to your instructor about old software make sure you do a good job learning C and then move on to something more recent once the class is over.
