Each year, my son is scheduled for a kind of store? Is this typical of the country?

When I was in school (about 15 years) all children (boys and girls) were scheduled for the kind of store, in one semester and the domestic economy in the next semester. This gave balance our education, learning things that can not be part of our social experience of gender. I loved the shop class! I learned to use many tools woodworking that I have never seen before. I loved learning how to spot weld and do useful things of wood and metal. (Wall Art Deco LAMP, related platform, stool) I can only imagine the experience of children was similar in home economics (cooking, sewing, budgeting and recycling) Is typical programming for children to schools for classes based on the genre now? Sorry, but this seems a little @ $ $ backwards.

From where I am I, the children are scheduled for both classes together. I do not think that schools can make the determination based on sex. I mean I really would contrary to many things.
