Jewelry Making Supplies Tools

I’m a newbie at crafting jewelry can someone give me a rundown of supplies i should buy.?

Im interested in making necklaces and bracelets. I already know what tools to buy I’m not sure of which soft flex wire to start off with, what do I’ve to buy thats essenstial crimps, jump rings etc.?

Your basic tools should be the following:
Pliers, both round and chain-nose; wire cutters- (flush cutters if you can find them!); a fine point awl; and crimping pliers.

As far as soft flex wire goes, it depends on what your final product will be. The thinner the wire is more flexible, but also not very strong. The thicker wire is stiffer, but can carry a heavier load. I use thicker wire for most guys necklaces, or for jewelry that uses beads with rough edges(many hand made glass beads or stone beads can wear through a thinner wire). If you use this type of wire, crimp beads are must, and they come in different sizes to match the gauge of wire you’re using- small crimps for thin wire, larger crimps for thicker wire or mulitple strands.

If you haven’t already, get a copy of any one of the beading magazines on the shelf. Most of them have very good “how to” sections, as well as clear step-by-step instructions. Once you get the hang of a few simple steps, you’ll be making all sorts of beautiful things!
