Excel Chart of Non-Numeric Data?

I have a spreadsheet that has some non-numeric data I’d like to chart. The spreadsheet is from an online web form I’m doing statistical analysis of. For example, I have a field that is gender, “Male” and “Female” – I’d like to have a pie chart that shows the breakdown as a whole (60% Male and 40% Female and 10% Not Sure). Is this possible in Excel. I also have Access, if it has better reporting tools.
I use the wizard, select a region in a column – the chart is either a wedge for each gender or once slice for male and no female wedges. I’ve tried multiple ways in the wizard, can’t seem to get the desired result.
(when I said wedge for each gender, I mean I’ll have 20 Male wedges and 15 female wedges instead of 1 for each that a representative of the size.

You have to give numeric values to create a chart.

Using the “COUNTIF” command you can get their totals easily.
Eg :- =COUNTIF(range,”male”), COUNTIF(range,”female”),

Using those 2 formula, you can create the chart.
