Clean Up Tools for Mac
regarding: should I defragment?
Many thanks for your thoughtful considerations of my question. so many kind and helpful people out there willing to be of assistance. I would try going to a defrag tool, then Start> etc. if I could find it. I tried, but don’t know where to begin. So I will try another option offered : diskeeper.com. BTW , I am using a G4 power mac osx 10 10.3.9. I bought it used. I wonder if these things come with a manual when you buy them new. I tried to find it thru apple one time, but I got so confused and discouraged, i gaVe up. I will try to look on google as to how to do the disc clean up before the defrag.. Still, any further input would be helpful, I’m sure. Oh yes, and as for that spinning rainbow wheel: yea, Wait Cursor sounds good to me. Thanks Again
You don’t have to defragment a OSX HD. The Unix OS that the Mac runs on kind of auto defrags itself. More or less it arranges data different than Windows does so there is no need to do it. If you still want to use a utility on the computer, boot off of the disk that came with the comp and run the disk utility program.
